I love movies, and I love thinking about them and writing about them and working with people who love them as much as I do, so being a critic is my dream come true.
This is my passion project, or passion in general.
Nothing makes me happier than introducing someone to a movie they never heard of that becomes one of their all-time favorites.
What it means to me to be part of CCA.
Awards from the industry to itself are worthy, but it means the world to me to be a part of a group that makes award decisions based on seeing everything, not just the films sent out for consideration, voted on by people who are independent of the industry and by nature and training best situated for determining excellence. I’m so proud of our group.
My favorite Film/ TV series that inspires/empowers me as a woman & why.
I love all of the fierce and powerful women in movies but my heart will always be with those early pioneers, Bette Davis, Barbara Stanwyck, Katharine Hepburn, Ida Lupino, Dorothy Arzner, and Mabel Normand, who were fierce and powerful and innovative a generation before the Women’s Movement.
My favorite Film/TV series that I am currently watching and why.
I’m loving Season 3 of Ted Lasso, Season 2 of Shmigadoon, and Season 1 of Shrinking, the first and third because there’s nothing better than smart people saying smart things about their not-smart mistakes and the second because it manages to make fun of musical theater and show us why we love it so much at the same time!
