About me, my market, and what I love most about my work:
I’m a 2X Emmy award winning entertainment journalist for “The Spiel”, an entertainment / lifestyle TV show where my film reviews, celebrity interviews and entertainment features can be found each week. Though I’m based in Boston, this new post-Covid communication world has opened up many new doors to do my reporting remotely.
Though I started out as a news reporter, I’ve dreamed about covering the entertainment beat ever since I was a teenager watching early episodes of “Entertainment Tonight”. I love bringing new information and “behind the scenes” insights about the film industry and actors to my audience in a unique and creative way. To do this as a paid job is truly a dream come true – because I think I’d enjoy it just as much doing it for free.
This is my passion project, or passion in general:
Besides covering the film industry, my personal passion is my side gig and hobby as an illustration artist and cartoonist. I’ve loved creating art all my life. I also get to draw for young patients at Boston Children’s Hospital each week for the past 11 years. Seeing these kids smile from my drawings is one of the best feelings in the world.
What it means to me to be part of the CCA:
I am so proud to be a part of the CCA and be counted among so many talented, experienced and esteemed film critic colleagues across the country, many of whom I consider great friends as well. The CCA provides such a wonderful fellowship of journalists and critics who have garnered the respect of the Hollywood studios, publicists and actors. It’s such an honor for me to be part of this professional organization that has such a prestigious reputation.
My favorite film/TV series that I am currently watching and why:
It’s almost impossible for me to cite just one film as my favorite. However, my earliest film memory was seeing a repertory screening of 1963’s The Great Escape on the big screen. The all-star cast and historic scope has always captured my attention. Though I’ve seen it dozens of times, I always stop to watch it whenever it pops up unexpectedly on cable TV.
AMC’s reboot of Interview with the Vampire is bloody, melodramatic and wonderfully acted. I can’t wait for season two to premiere.
